How to Cancel NOW TV: Every Membership, Step by Step
Cancelling NOW is genuinely easy — no phone call, no retention script, no notice period. It is simply buried two levels into account settings, and the flow tries to keep you at three separate points. This walks through it, and explains why cancelling on the day you sign up is almost always the right move.
The short answer
- Cancel online in about two minutes. There is no phone call required.
- You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Each Membership cancels separately — cancelling one does not cancel others.
- The cancellation flow offers real discounts. Look at them before confirming.
NOW’s selling point is that it has no contract, and to its credit the cancellation process reflects that. There is no minimum term, no notice period, no exit fee and no need to speak to anyone. That is genuinely better than most of the UK television market.
What there is, though, is a route that requires knowing where to look, and a flow that presents you with save offers on the way out. Neither is a dark pattern exactly, but both slow people down, and every year a large number of people intend to cancel, get distracted partway, and are charged for another month.
This guide gives the exact path, explains what the save offers are worth, and covers the single most useful habit for anyone using NOW.
When should you cancel NOW TV?
This is the single most useful thing to know about NOW, and almost nobody does it. The mental model most people carry over from other subscriptions — that cancelling ends your access — simply does not apply here.
The consequences are worth spelling out. Sign up for Sports on the 3rd, cancel on the 3rd, and you have thirty days of Sky Sports for one payment with no possibility of forgetting. If you want a second month you re-subscribe, which takes about a minute and frequently comes with a returning-customer discount.
It also removes the most common complaint about NOW entirely: being charged for a month you did not intend to have. There is no rollover to forget about if you have already cancelled.

How to cancel NOW TV on the website, step by step
The web route is the most reliable and takes about two minutes. Use a browser rather than the television app, which cannot cancel at all.
Sign in at nowtv.com
Use the account that holds the Membership. If you have several NOW accounts — which happens more often than you would think — make sure it is the one being billed.
Open your account
Select your name or the account icon, usually top right, then choose Account or My Account from the menu.
Find Memberships
Sometimes labelled "My Memberships" or "Manage Memberships". This lists everything you currently hold — Entertainment, Cinema, Sports, Hayu and Boost — each with its own renewal date.
Select the Membership you want to end
This is the step people get wrong. Each Membership is separate, and cancelling Entertainment does not cancel Sports or Boost. Check the full list.
Choose Cancel Membership
You will be asked why you are leaving. Any answer works; it does not affect the outcome.
Decline or accept the save offer
A discount is usually presented here. Read it — some are genuinely good. If you still want to leave, decline it.
Confirm, and check the date
The final screen shows the date access ends. That is the date you stop paying. Screenshot it.

Can you cancel NOW TV in the app?
The mobile app supports cancellation. The television app does not — it has no account management of any kind, which surprises people who try there first.
Open the NOW app on a phone or tablet
Sign in with the account being billed.
Go to My Account
Usually behind a profile icon or a menu at the bottom of the screen.
Select Memberships, then the one to cancel
Same list as the website, with the same renewal dates.
Follow the cancellation flow to the confirmation
Identical to the web flow, including the save offer.
If you subscribed through Apple, Google or Amazon
This is an important exception. If you signed up through an in-app purchase, NOW does not control the billing and cannot cancel it. You must cancel through the store instead.
| Signed up via | Where to cancel |
|---|---|
| NOW website or NOW app | nowtv.com account settings |
| Apple App Store | iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions |
| Google Play | Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions |
| Amazon (Fire TV or Prime Video Channels) | Amazon account → Memberships & Subscriptions |
| Sky, as a reward or bundle | Your Sky account, or Sky customer service |
If you cannot find the Membership in your NOW account at all, this is almost certainly why. Check the store you originally signed up through.

Should you take the NOW TV save offer?
The cancellation flow will try to keep you, and unusually for this market the offers are often worth reading rather than clicking past. Some of these overlap with the entry offers covered in what replaced the NOW TV trial.
| Offer type | Typical value | Worth it? |
|---|---|---|
| Discounted months | Half price for two or three months | Often yes, if you were going to return anyway. This is usually the best of the offers. |
| A free month | One month, occasionally | Yes, obviously — but less common than the discount. |
| Downgrade suggestion | Switch to a cheaper Membership | Only if it carries what you actually watch. Not a saving otherwise. |
| Pause offer | Where available | Rarely better than simply cancelling, since you keep access to the paid period either way. |
The genuinely useful tactic: if you are cancelling for the summer and expect to return in August, a half-price offer for the intervening months is often cheaper than paying full price on your return. Do the arithmetic rather than declining reflexively.
Equally, if you decline it and leave, expect a win-back email within a few weeks. Lapsed customers are targeted with returning-customer offers, and those are frequently better than what you were paying before. Cancelling costs you nothing and often improves your rate.

What happens when you cancel NOW TV?
Access continues to the end of the period you have paid for — nothing switches off immediately, and no refund is issued because you keep that access. Your account stays open, with profiles and watch history preserved. Other Memberships are unaffected: cancelling Sports leaves Entertainment and Boost running.
- Access continues to the end of the period you have paid for. Nothing switches off immediately.
- Your account stays open. Profiles, watch history and continue-watching are preserved, so re-subscribing later picks up where you left off.
- Other Memberships are unaffected. Cancelling Sports leaves Entertainment and Boost running and billing.
- No refund is issued. Cancel two days into a monthly Membership and you still have the rest of that month to watch — so time it around the renewal date, not the day you decide.
- Boost cancels separately. People routinely cancel every content Membership and keep paying £6 a month for Boost on nothing.
One practical step worth taking: after the end date passes, check your bank or card statement the following month. Cancellations very rarely fail, but confirming takes ten seconds and catches the exception.

What goes wrong when cancelling NOW TV?
Two things recur. No Memberships listed in the account usually means you signed up through Apple, Google or Amazon — cancel in that store instead, because NOW cannot end a billing relationship it does not hold. Being charged after cancelling usually means the flow was abandoned before the confirmation screen.
| Problem | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No Memberships listed in the account | Signed up via Apple, Google or Amazon | Cancel in that store instead. NOW cannot cancel a billing relationship it does not hold. |
| Charged after cancelling | Flow abandoned before the confirmation screen | Contact NOW with the date. Cancellations that reached confirmation produce an email — check for it. |
| Still charged for Boost | Boost cancelled separately from content | Return to Memberships and cancel Boost specifically. |
| Cannot sign in to cancel | Wrong account, or a second account exists | Check which email address receives the billing receipts and use that one. |
| No cancel option in the TV app | The television app has no account management | Use the website or the mobile app. This is expected, not a fault. |
| Want to cancel before a free period ends | Nothing wrong — this is the right move | Cancel immediately. Access continues to the end of the free period regardless. |

Is NOW TV easier to cancel than Sky?
Worth some context, because NOW’s cancellation process is unusually painless by British standards and it is easy to take that for granted. For the two most common alternatives, how to cancel Sky TV and cancelling a TV Licence both work quite differently.
| Service | How you cancel | Notice / term | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| NOW | Online, two minutes | None — access to period end | Easy. No call, no retention script. |
| Sky over broadband | Phone or online notification | 31 days’ notice, plus any remaining term | Harder. Exit fees apply within the minimum term. |
| EE TV | Phone, tied to broadband | Broadband contract term | Hard. Cancelling TV usually means cancelling broadband. |
| the Virgin Stream box | Packs online; broadband by phone | Packs monthly; broadband 18 months | Mixed. Content easy, broadband not. |
| Freely / Freeview Play | Nothing to cancel | None | Not applicable — they are free. |
The gap between the first row and the rest is the whole argument for NOW. Every other paid platform in Britain either requires a phone call, imposes a notice period, or ties the television to a broadband contract you cannot exit without penalty.
Why that flexibility is worth money
People tend to compare monthly prices and conclude NOW is expensive once Boost is added. That comparison misses the point. The value of no contract is not the monthly rate — it is that you can genuinely stop paying.
Take Sky Sports as the example. A season runs roughly nine months. On a fixed contract you pay for twelve, because there is no mechanism to pause. On NOW you pay for nine, and the three months you skip are worth around £120 a year. That is a larger saving than any price difference between the platforms.
Push it further and the gap widens. Someone who only cares about the run-in might take Sports for four months, at which point the annual cost is a third of a fixed contract for the fixtures they actually watch. Nobody on a 24-month agreement can do that.
The one thing to keep an eye on is that re-subscribing does not always restore the same price. Promotional rates fluctuate with the football calendar, and rejoining in August — when demand peaks — tends to cost more than rejoining in February. If you know you will return, the save offer presented during cancellation is sometimes the cheaper route.

More from our setup and fixes hub
Cancelling is one of several things people come to our IPTV troubleshooting hub for. If the reason you are leaving is that something stopped working rather than that you stopped watching, two guides are worth reading first.
- A picture that buffers or a stick that has become sluggish is almost never the service — see clearing the cache on a Firestick, which covers the difference between a bandwidth problem and a storage one.
- A remote that has stopped responding is a lost Bluetooth pairing rather than a fault, and our remote guide fixes it in about ten seconds.
- Starting again from scratch on a different service? Setting up IPTV from scratch walks through choosing, buying and connecting in the right order.

Before you cancel: is there a better option?
Often, depending on why you are going. If it is the price, removing Boost alone saves about £72 a year and costs little on a laptop or tablet. If the football has finished, cancelling is the right call anyway — NOW is built to be dropped in May and picked up again in August.
Depending on why you are leaving, one of these may suit better than cancelling outright.
- Leaving because of cost? Drop Boost rather than the Membership if you mostly watch on a laptop or tablet — that is £72 a year and 720p is acceptable on a small screen.
- Leaving because the season ended? That is exactly the intended use. Cancel now, return in August, and expect a returning-customer offer.
- Leaving because of picture quality? If it is softness rather than buffering, you are on 720p without Boost. Adding Boost fixes it; see our NOW review.
- Leaving for something with more channels? Sky Stream carries the full Sky line-up with real 4K, though it wants a 24-month term.
- Leaving to spend nothing? Freely and Freeview Play cover the main British channels for free.
And if you are cancelling because you were hoping for a free trial that never materialised, our page on the NOW free trial explains what happened to it and what the realistic alternatives are.

Frequently asked questions
How to cancel NOW TV without paying for another month?
Cancel before your renewal date, not after it. A NOW TV cancellation stops the next payment but never refunds the current period, so the timing rule is the whole trick: check the renewal date first, then cancel with a day or two in hand.
Does NOW TV cancel subscription access immediately?
No. You keep watching until the end of the period you have already paid for, then it simply stops. Nothing is cut off at the moment you cancel NOW membership plans, which is why cancelling early in a billing period costs you nothing extra.
Should I accept the save offer when cancelling NOW?
Read it rather than clicking past. If you expect to return — for the new football season, say — a half-price offer covering the intervening months is frequently cheaper than declining and paying full price later. If you genuinely will not use it, decline and expect a win-back email within a few weeks anyway.
How long does it take for a NOW cancellation to take effect?
The cancellation registers immediately, but access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for — the confirmation screen shows the exact date. There is no notice period, so nothing extra is charged after that date.
Can I cancel NOW and keep watching until the end of the month?
Yes, and that is the intended behaviour. Cancelling never cuts off access early. This is precisely why cancelling on the day you sign up is the smartest way to use the service — you get the full period you paid for with no risk of an unwanted renewal.
Do I need to phone NOW to cancel?
No. Everything is done online through the website or the mobile app, and there is no retention call. This is unusual in UK pay television — Sky, EE and Virgin all involve either a phone call, a notice period or a broadband contract you cannot exit without penalty.
How do I cancel NOW TV?
Sign in at nowtv.com, open your account, go to Memberships, select the one you want to end, choose Cancel Membership, decline the save offer and continue to the confirmation screen. It takes about two minutes and there is no phone call. The cancellation is only registered once you see a confirmation with an end date.
Do I keep access after cancelling NOW?
Yes. Access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for — cancelling does not switch anything off immediately. This is why cancelling on the day you sign up costs you nothing and is generally the smartest way to use the service.
Is there a cancellation fee for NOW?
No. There is no contract, no minimum term, no notice period and no exit fee on any Membership. That contract-free model is the main reason to choose NOW over Sky Stream.
Why is my NOW Membership not showing in my account?
You almost certainly signed up through an in-app purchase. If you subscribed via Apple, Google or Amazon, that store holds the billing relationship and NOW cannot cancel it — you need to cancel through the store’s own subscription settings.
Does cancelling one NOW Membership cancel them all?
No. Each Membership is billed and cancelled separately, including Boost. Cancelling Sports leaves Entertainment, Cinema and Boost running. Check the full list before assuming you are done — a leftover £6 Boost charge is the most common oversight.
Can I cancel NOW on the TV app?
No. The television app has no account management at all. Use the website in a browser or the NOW app on a phone or tablet.
Will I get a better price if I cancel and rejoin NOW?
Often, yes. Lapsed customers are targeted with win-back offers that are frequently better than the rate they were paying. Since there is no contract, cancelling between seasons costs nothing and regularly results in a cheaper rate on return.
